TO THE ABANDONED WOMAN

Behind your intoxicating eyes,

Which injure in a jiffy

A bird

Lost in reverie,

I can see the dripping grief.

Your trusted life-partner

Hurled you away

In this alluring world

And at once

Your bond with him

Withered out..

“Who is to blame?”

Is a vain question.

The monsoon rain will not come

To douse the blaze in your body.

False sympathy

Deceptive reassurances

Will not stop

Your futile struggle.

At least

Do not target

Some innocent, unblemished bird.

Because –

His hen-sparrow will be sitting

In the nest

And waiting for him.
